As the weather gets colder and drier, I find myself with skin that needs a little pampering. A good homemade scrub made with nourishing ingredients can be just the thing to treat yourself, your senses, and your skin! Plus these recipes use ingredients you have around the house and that you could eat!
The basic recipe I like to start with is 1 part oil to 1 part scrub, so there are unlimited ways to experiment with ingredients here.
Here are a couple of my favorites:
1 tsp coconut oil
1 tsp white sugar
Mix together and rub gently over lips. No worries if you end up eating some! Wash off with warm water or gently wipe off with a warm washcloth. Add a balm or oil to seal in the moisture.
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp olive oil
Splash of vanilla
Mix together and rub into your hands paying special attention to cuticles. Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.
1/4 cup salt or sugar, course is ok
1/4 cup olive oil
Squeeze of lemon or your favorite essential oil
Mix all ingredients together and bring it into the shower with you. Option to rub into your dry skin, or wet. Give your elbows and feet lots of love, just be careful the shower floor doesn't become too slippery. Rinse and pat dry.
